“The textual research of Laws of Nine Dynasties(九朝律考)” which includes the primary law of Han to sui, the nine dynasties will contribute to many research organization to understand better not only about Primary law in China but also Primary law of East Asia countries such as Korea and Japan. Cheng Shude’s “Some Records on the Laws of Nine Dynasties” is a very famous and important book in legal-history study. But there are many mistakes in the popular edition. I want to point out some of those mistakes to readers and put out some corrections, so that if readers wants to read this good and important book and understand it well, it may be some help to them. In Han Dynasty, the contents of CHUNQIU(春秋) were quoteted directly as reasons of conclusion of a syllogism except for the laws and decrees.
“The textual Research of Laws of Nine Dynasties” is about Law development of 9 Dynasties which is based on a textual about law development of Nine Dynasties before Tang Dynasty wrote by Chen Shude. Therefore, the book includes almost every historical material about a juridical relation from acient China. It is very hard to find a textual described about Law development before the Tang Dynasty as clear as like this.
