This study has been performed to develop an equipment purifying the water in aquariums.
The water recycling system in the study consists of a reactor filled with a furnaced media with olivine, Hwangto, and TiB₂, a UV-C lamp irradiating ultraviolet to the reactor, an underwater pump supplying the reactor water in the aquarium, and an air pump supplying air.
Two tubes connected to the underwater and air pumps supply the reactor water and air at the same time through the Y-shaped coupler.
Olivine ceramic filling the reactor were formed into 10㎜ balls in diameter after mixing olivine, Hwangto, and TiB₂ at the weight ratio of 30:68:2. The balls formed through these processes have been furnaced for an hour at 700℃.
We have analyzed the water quality items(pH, Conductivity, DO, Turbidity, Chromaticity, T-N, T-P, COD, and Water Temperature) for 40 days before operating the experiment equipment and for 100 days after operating it. We also supplied fish air and fed them even before operating the experiment equipment.
The result of correlation analysis shows that chromaticity has a high positive correlationship with Conductivity(0.61), and Turbidity(0.77), and T-N has a high quantity correlationship with Conductivity(0.96), and Chromaticity(0.65).
It also shows that COD has a positive correlationship with Turbidity (0.84), Chromaticity(0.83), and T-N(0.67), and T-O has a negative correlationship with pH(-0.89).
All water quality items except conductivity showed appreciable changes before and after the operation of experiment equipment. All of the water quality items analyzed in the experiment were improved.
