The purpose of this study is to examine and compare Korean and Finnish youth"s perception of entrepreneurship. Korea and Finland are both among the 20 GEM(Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) countries represented as innovation-driven. It is well-known that entrepreneurship is driving force for economic development. Entrepreneurs contribute economic growth through job creation and technical innovation. Therefore, it is important to help youth consider becoming an entrepreneur as a viable career option and learn how to pursue it successfully when they want to. To come up with strategies to promote entrepreneurship of youth, we need to examine their attitudes toward it. In addition, we investigate and compare Korean and Finnish youth"s perception of corporate social responsibility(CSR).
A structured questionnaire on entrepreneurship and CSR was developed by Finnish Youth Research Network. Researchers at National Youth Policy Institute translated its English version into Korean and sought professional advice for checking the compatibility between Finnish and Korean versions of the survey questions in order to ensure the accuracy of the translation. A web-based survey was developed and administered to nationally representative samples of 1,058 Finnish youth and 1,016 Korean youth aged 15-29. Policy recommendations to promote youth"s entrepreneurship and improve their understanding of CSR are articulated.
