The purpose of this study is to examine to see how Individual Zone of Optimal Functioning model has its effects on the psycholgical skill training(PST) of college rugby players. PST was composed of three phases(education-acquisition-practice). The results of Korean version of TOPS(Test of Performance Strategies)-self-talk, imagery/goal setting, emotional control, activation, relaxation-indicated that there was no interaction of group(IZOF group-control group) and phase. But significant differences were found in the main effect of group and in the main effect of phase. On the main effect of phase, practice phase was significantly higher than education phase on all factors of TOPS except relaxation. That is, self-talk, imagery/goal setting, emotional control, and activation were changed effectively by PST. And on the other main effect of group, IZOF group was significantly higher than control group on emotional control, activation, and relaxation. The reason why this happened is because these factors were affected by the influence of emotion. And IZOF model is centered on the emotional experience and impact. So IZOF model has a good effect on PST.
