Sahwedeung-gasa had been published in The Korea Daily News since 10 ecember 1907. At that time, Danjae Shin Chae-ho was working as the chie editor of that newspaper. The 493 pieces of Sahwedeung-gasa were published moved to China. Later, 55 pieces of Sahwedeung-gasa were published in the same newspaper until the ceasing of newspaper. However, compare to theealier works, the later Gasas’ length is not only shorter but also it isremarkably poor from the aspect of critical strength and aesthetical value.
Previous researchers have been established the fact that the writer of Sahwedeung-gasa was an editorial group of The Korea Daily News. However, they have estimated Danjae’s works not in the less numbers. But they could not find any authentic evidence for unearthing his literary works. Therefore researchers could not reach on the outcome. In this paper, I have tried to unearth the works of Danjae through a comparative analysis about Sahwedeung-gasa and Danjae’s intellectualities, ideologies and literary styles etc. Thus, I have discovered almost 30 pieces of his works related to theseries of mantra for chasing evils and the poetry of evocation etc.
Danjae was the founder of Sahwedeung-gasa, and he criticized and satirized the society as well as putted his heart feelings through the Gasas. However, the discovered works of this article do not pass through the parts of Danjae’s Gasas. There are more Gasas existing in the same newspaper apart from these works. I expect for the meaningful and in-depth discussions on these works in the future.
