This paper describes an estimation method of inverter output voltage information which can be used for an advanced control and diagnostic of AC motors. Ideally, voltage references of a controller equal actual output voltages of the inverter. However, there exists a voltage distortion between the reference and actual output voltage because of the inverter’s non-ideal switching characteristics, such as the dead-time, diode forward voltage drop and conduction resistance. By analysis of causes and effects of the non-ideal switching, the estimation method of the inverter output voltage is designed and verified by experiments.
