With the outbreak of ‘September 18 Incident’ in 1931, the League of Nations decided to dispatch Lytton Commission to the northeast district of China. Kong, Cheon-min and Ryu, Jung-myung, who had been active centering on
Shenyang Young Men’s Christian Association, determined to make Japan’s act of aggression known by handing over the evidence of Japanese imperialists’ crimes to the Commission after gathering up the detailed evidence. Thus the two men collected the relevant data such as decrees the Japanese army posted up by winning a staff member in charge of document management of the provincial[Sheng] government over to their side. These two men named the material book “Truth” and surreptitiously handed it over to the Commission.
In October, 1932, the ‘Lytton Commission’s Report’ was announced. This report featured the contents advocating Japan’s position, but through this report, Japann’s act of aggression was shown and ’Manchu State’ was revealed as a puppet government. Particularly, the report emphasized the provocation of Japan was purely intentional, saying that the military action taken by Japan couldn’t be possibly regarded as a lawful self-defense by any means.
A descendant of Kong, Cheon-min had been tracing the whereabouts of the data when he identified the ‘Truth’ possessed by the Allied Powers’ Library in June, 2008. The collection contained various sorts of commands, decrees given by Kanto army, news coverage, and eyewitness testimony of the persons directly involved in the horrible scene, and a large quantity of photographs showing Japanese imperialists’ brutality after Japan started ‘September 18 Incident.’ These data are the evidence plainly showing the Japanese militarism’s ambition for power expansion and true colors of their brutal manner. In addition, the data are very meaningful up-to-date historical materials for the research on the development of the northeastern people’s anti-Japanese movement and also veritable materials for the research on the world anti-Fascist war as well.
