This study considered the looks of being changed the Royal Guards system (宿衛體系) in the 17th century when the East Palace(東闕) started to function as Beopgung(main palace, 法宮). Due to Injo Restoration(仁祖反正)， the Royal Guards system, which supported Gwanghaegun(光海君) regime, was momentarily collapsed together.
The newly-emerged King Injo(仁祖) regime tried to overcome the confused image in the previous period within prompt time, and to reconstruct the stronger the Royal Guards system. However, rather than solving a problem by completely reorganizing the existing system, it did spread the work of swiftly reinforcing the vulnerable section by mobilizing an easy method. As a result, the considerable outcome could be accomplished within short time. However, it became an opportunity that causes another problem. Especially inside it， the privately strong relationship between the commander and his soldiers came to be positioned firmly.
Entering the period in King Hyojong(孝宗) and King Hyeongjong(顯宗) when the project of strengthening the national defense with an expedition to conquer the north as the slogan was driven extensively, the Royal Guards system was allowed to be veteran by carrying out the highly-intensified military drill such as largely increasing the number of soldiers and offering equipments, in order to solve a problem about the Royal Guards system. Due to this, the military power of more than 10,000 persons including Royal Guards(宿衛軍) inside and outside a castle town led to being gathered.
However, from the end of the period during King Hyeongjong, it got overly obese, thus the assertion continued to be raised, which there is necessity of reducing Royal Guards of being the big burden to the finances. Nevertheless, in the midst of being rarely shown a sign to be solved, the problem of commanding Royal Guards was raised in the early period of King Sukjong(肅宗)， thereby having been developed into a political strife. In particular, the problem of restoring Dochechalsabu(the Office of the Supreme Commander, 都體察使府)， which had been presented by Yun Hyu(尹?)， was greatly highlighted. The restoration to the general command system was asserted, by granting Dochechalsabu(都體察使府) the commandership over all soldiers outside the capital including Royal Guards and by filling government officials in the department with the officials of civil and military arts. However, King Sukjong and his aides opposed strongly, thereby having failed to be realized. Due to this, Royal Guards came to be seized mostly by persons who were closely connected with a Royal family.
