Parents are commanded to pass on the faith to their children. Parents’ religious values are transmitted to children through observing and imitating and through conversations. This article discusses the role of parents as the primary agent in religious value transmission, and the mechanism of value transmission with the observational learning theory and the two-process model of parent-child agreement. It also discusses the factors influencing value transmission, including parent-child relationship, parental acceptance, perception on parental values, and family cohesion. This article continues to discuss religious value transmission from biblical perspectives and suggests several implications for educational ministry in the church.
