Recently disputes on land compensation tend to increase especially related to public works such as a road construction. Most disputes are about compensations for residual lands. However, it is difficult for land owners or public enterprise to make an accurate estimate of agreeing or rejecting compensation for residual land. The purpose of this study is to estimate probabilities of compensation based on the characteristics of residual land. Total 463 residual land cases were examined using logistic regression mode. Results showed that the less the size of residual land or the size ratio of residual land to original parcel, the higher the possibility of compensation agreement for residual land. In addition, when two or more attached residual lands were owned by same owner, the residual land belongs to residential, commercial, or industrial purpose, or the residual land is disconnected, the possibility of compensation agreement for residual land is increased. From the regional point of view, when residual lands were located in Seoul, possibilities of compensation agreements became higher than those in Kyeonggi-Do or Incheon. The result of this research will be useful source for land owners, public enterprise, eminent committee, or court of justice to make an estimate of agreeing or rejecting compensation for residual land.
