Non-catalystic partial oxidation of methane were compared with experimental results of chemical equilibrium calculation. Air and oxygen enriched air were used as oxidizers, in both experiments and calculations. Mass balance and energy balance were also performed for experimental results and the energy required for the partial oxidation of methane was estimated. Experimental results showed agreements in trend with the calculation results but there were also significant differences due to differences in temperature distribution in the reactor, and aerodynamics in the reactor should be also considered under the view of turbulent mixing.
