The purpose of this study is to identify a range of light source perceived by observer depending on the observation distance from the window and the status of external sky. It also aims at selecting a discomfort glare formula which is close to the discomfort glare value estimated by observer. The results are as follows. First, more than 90% of respondents said they perceived the sky and obstacle reflected light as a glare source under the partly cloudy sky. Second, as a result of estimating the discomfort glare value using the formulas of DGI, PGSV, and DGIN, it is found that the estimated value is proportional to sky luminance, window luminance, and luminance of the glare source chosen by observer, which are used as glare sources in each formula, while being inversely proportional to distance. Third, when comparing the estimated value of a discomfort glare using the discomfort glare formulas such as DGI, PGSV, and DGIN with the results produced, the value earned using DGIN was the most close to the one estimated by observer.
