This research referred to the definition of the basic vocabulary that Japanese learner studies as their first textbook. When it appears as a legal terminology phase word, it describes different meaning from the dictionary.
An inquiry has given to Japanese teachers in Pusan, S. Korea to examine the understanding of the meaning of the words. As a result, it became obvious that many of them do not understand the meanings of the words accurately when the basic vocabulary appears as legal terminology.
However, in Japan, more than 40 percent of the international university students are majoring in the social science field such as law, economics, and business administration which percentage is the highest among every major that could understand the basic vocabulary more accurately as a legal terminology.
Japanese vocabulary teaching is demanding the cooperation with the special majors. Moreover, it is asking to consider the demand of enterprises when the international student finds employment in Japan.
In this aspect, there might be a limit in today's Japanese education that is persistent only in the human science major. It can be said that studying with other majors and practical educations are indispensable.
It may be pointed that the lack of the amount of the sample data is a weak point of this research. However, it is convinced that it is sufficient to suggest a present problem of Japanese education and its preferable future direction.
