This paper aims to explore a biblical methodology that facilitates a conversion momentum of Christian Education in Korean churches. The rhetorical criticism is introduced as an alternative interpretative principle for the purpose. Historical critical interpretation has been critiqued to not properly treat each element of biblical hermeneutics: text, context, and methodological hypotheses. To the contrary, we propose that the rhetorical criticism provides us with a remedy for the traditional biblical approaches, because the literary reading builds the biblical authority, engages the community into an encounter with God, and reveals literary textures that embrace marginal factors of the text. Case studies undertake three exemplary texts in Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Genesis. They examine how the rhetorical critical reading works for the conversion of the people in the process of Christian education. This paper concludes that rhetorical criticism corresponds well with the challenge of Korean churches that expect transformative power of biblical interpretation.
