This study demonstrates the decoding to ‘(-)Don (頓)(-)’ in Hyangchal. For the purpose of this study. we examines ‘(-)Don(頓)(-)’ in five aspects: (1) the aspect of the meaning and the sound of the character; (2) the grammatical aspect; (3) the meaning aspect; (4) the aspect of the context; (5) the aspect of the translated poem and the sutura. The findings taken from the decoding analysis are as follows. First, AngDonEun(仰頓隱) is decoded to UlwolJosEun which is Ulwol(front stem)+Jos(rear stem)+Eun(case ending). And UlwolJosEun means respect and kowtow. Second, DonJil(頓叱) is decoded to Mut which is front stem in the compound stem. And Mut means stick or adhere. Third, DonBuJil(頓部叱) is decoded to Mujubit/Mudubit which is a combined word of Mujubi/Mudubi(noun)+t(case ending). And Mujubit/Mudubit means a pile or a heap, and ‘-t’ means an indeclinable adjective case ending or a subjective case ending or an objective case ending. Those results are not discovered in the preceding decoding. And the findings are able to have the reliance in the viewpoints of the above five aspects.
