A multivariate and multimedia network plan technology suitable for project implementation plans with large optimum size and strong integrity can be developed, through the Computer-supported Cooperative Work by using multimedia communications, which provides the perfect human-machine interactive environment in combination with network plan technology.
Based on the graph theory and network analysis, network plan technology has been widely used in the engineering field, mainly in application to the project implementation plans and the optimization as well. However, the routine network plan method has much limitation in the coordination of several independent units during the process of implementation, and the most effective way is to develop multimedia network plan technology based on Internet, enhancing the comprehension and coordination to the utmost by means of some characteristics, namely, computer interactivity, communication distribution, multimedia feasibility and etc. The core of the technology is to study the integration model of network plan technology as well as the comprehension technique of multimedia, including artificial intelligence input-output technique, periphery device control technique and multimedia network transmission technique. There are three aspects of system support for the integration of different network plans based on Internet. Firstly, internet communication can be used to eliminate and decrease the information obstacles in the combination of multivariate decision-making and to improve the circulation and share of information between members, thus to find out the reason of the conflicting procedures and problems, so this kind of system is the so-called CSCW (Computer-supported Cooperative Work). Secondly, the cooperative solutions faced by the difference between benefits and goals can be achieved by negotiation to reach an adjusted and revised plan, which is usually called NSS (Negotiation Support System). Thirdly, quantitative and qualitative decision-making methods can be applied to make general analysis under the control of the decision makers, in order to find out and evaluate feasible plans, and this system is GDSS (Group Decision Support System). The key technology mainly includes synchronization mechanism, controlling mechanism and strategy, applied interface technology based on the multimedia network and etc.
Therefore the application program of multimedia network plan technology based on Internet has been developed in views of the above-mentioned ideas, which has made original achievements available in practical use and opened up a new field in implementing and optimizing of project network plans through computer network expressed by multimedia. It has been shown by the practice that the technology has a bright future in the application field of project management.
