The objectives of this study are to conceptualize the auto camping, to analyse the present condition of country wide auto camping sites and to review related literatures on auto camping. Study findings showed that the rating system would enhance and make ease of utilization by customers. Findings from the study are as follows; Firstly, there are about 100 camping sites in Korea including recreational forest camps. Secondly, those sites are currently managed and operated by one of three forms - public, individual, and the third sectors. Thirdly, there existed size differences among those sites but no evaluation criteria for those sites were found anywhere. Through extensive case studies in other countries, followings were identified. Firstly, ratings were composed of five different levels and service standard and service being offered were greater as the level went up. Secondly, scope of rating evaluation extends to three parts - front and service, sanitation and camping vehicle area. Front and service area is further broken down to 8 different sections, sanitation to 20 and camping vehicle area to 13. Thirdly, rating system for auto camping was found to have 41 different evaluation categories.
