From 18 century, the early industrial revolution, the amount of consumed fossil fuel has been increased and it plays significant role in causing the climate change. For 100 years, as the concentration of carbon dioxide in air rise, the earth's temperature had been increased by 0.6℃. Now, Global warming has caused changes in climate globally. It causes change in rainfall, raises the sea level, brings about desertification, spreads tropical diseases, decreases various species and it directly relates to human survival. Therefore, whole nations are realizing the importance of protection of environment and accelerating their effort to save the environment. Through 1992's Rio environmental conference and 1997's Kyoto Protocol, emerging environmental problems caused by climate change and energy crisis have become an international agenda.
Under this policy, Korea government established 'Low carbon, Green growth' by adopting a new national development strategy. Among the policy, the most active action was the "national bicycles load project" which is a part of 'Green transport' project. Green transport policy will reduce the amount of Co2 emission by establish of using bicycle instead of other transportation which is making 21 % of Co2 emission in Korea.
In the future, the demand of bicycles would explosively increase but lack of storage facilities and need of more bicycle parking lot will be big problems. To solve these various problems, the government is trying to make more friendly environmental bicycles parking lots. Therefore, through this study, I would like to apply LEED which is one of the world wide friendly building assessments to evaluate current condition of bicycles parking facilities and suggest ideas for sustainable building.
