Interface design of the products has been developed functionally almost centered on technicians and developers. However, as time passes, interface is being designed centered on users and based on aesthetics, usefulness and convenience. The development of the visual interface only has the limit in communication information. So recently design is increasing to apply AUI(Auditory User Interface:) and use auditory sense as a tool for communicating information. But most of kitchen appliances of the same manufacture including washing machines, refrigerators and dish washers have the same sound. So, several home appliances make confusion of communicating information in the same place. This study intends to propose a new AUI design in the musical point of view. So it examined the musical elements required for AUI design through literature. And, in order to inspect the present situations and problems of the existing AUI design shown from the present home appliances sound. In addition, AUI of the existing washing machines was extracted through a music sheet, analyzed in the aspects of tune, rhythm and timbre, and presented and AUI design prototype of a washing machine to complement problems. This intends to show AUI. Designed Sound of a washing machine which improves transmission forces and aesthetics musically hereafter.
