This study was conducted to determine the effect of slurry composted and biofiltered (SCB) solution as a substitute or supplement for chemical fertilizer (CF) on zoysiagrass turf. SCB solution supplemented with P alone or mixture with CF (30:70, 50:50, or 70:30) based on their N contents were applied on pots to find out the optimum rate of SCB solution. SCB solution mixed with CF, especially S3C7 (SCB 30% + Chemical fertilizer 70%, 3.5 g N/㎡ + 1.5 g N/㎡) treatment, improved turf color and density. In addition, SCB2 + P (200% SCB, 10 g N/㎡ + 3 g P/㎡) treatment showed turf quality similar to CF1 (100% chemical fertilizer, 5 g N/㎡) treatment. However, the clipping yield was less at all SCB solution treatments than CF1 treatment. To determine the leaching of nutrients from a sandy soil treated with SCB solution, the drainage water from hole under the bottom of each pot treated with SCB solution or CF was collected. As the amount of SCB solution treated increased, leachate EC tended to be increased. However, N and cations (K, Ca, Mg) leaching of all SCB solution treatments were less than those of CF1-L (100% liquid chemical fertilizer, 5 g N/㎡) treatment. These results demonstrated that SCB solution could be used as a supplement or substitute for CF, alone or mixed with CF. Therefore, applying SCB solution to golf courses could dispose a great quantity of pig excrement. Moreover, using SCB can not only decrease nutrient leaching from soil but also reduce the clipping yield, thus can decrease material and labor cost.
