As the construction and operation of the urban railway are expanded, the earthing system that protects the facilities and people is becoming more important. The AC traction system is using the common earthing system but the DC traction system is using the different ways by designers. Recently, as the earthing system standards are changed, the earthing system and requirements are needed for on the DC traction system.
The structures and the ground nets, the three-phase AC power systems, the DC traction facilities, the signals and communications facilities, the low voltage facilities in the building are the object of the global earthing system on the DC traction system. And the earthing composition must be satisfied with the basic requirements such as the safety of the facilities and people, the consideration about corrosion and so on.
Thus this paper suggests the standards about the facilities such as the running railroad, the DC traction substation and the basic requirements about the earthing plan procedure. The global earthing system composition depended on these requirements will improve the safety and economic efficiency of the earthing system on the DC traction system.
