This paper examines the asymmetry in inflectional matching effects between the sharing type of across-the-board (ATB) movement and right node raising constructions. We show that contrary to Bo?kovi? and Lasnik's (2003) argument, both constructions can receive a unified analysis under the view that the ATB-moved or RNRed element is formed via external remerge (ER) by conjoining together the two identical constituents drawn from the first and second conjunct clauses. More specifically, given the view, the asymmetry in inflectional matching effects follows from timing of Agree in relation to ER. In RNR, ER precedes Agree for the RNRed element, but in ATB movement, ER follows Agree for the ATB-moved element.
