A park is important in providing a place to take a rest for citizen and forming and reflecting a role of environment indicators in urban life and social value. The depressed children's park in Bukjeong-dong in Yangsan-si was remodelled. This study, which is being carried out in cooperation with students, teachers, a school committee, residents, the Korea Land & Housing Corporation, the Hope Institute, and the Urban Architecture Lab of Pusan National University, is for designing the playground with real users, local residents and children. The purpose is developing the playground which has the town's own characteristic through strengthening the local identity and the ability to live by oneself. The results of the study are followings; First, the efficiency of the children's participation way in the design program is regarded as skeptical in Korea. But the study shows a positive effect on high participation rate and values formation of residents' participation by participation program, such as children camps, children designers, and children's color experiences. Second, the playground got its name, the playground filled with joyful smile, through four-step program of children's participation. The study also shows the children's favorite places are water spaces, like sea, and swings and trampoline among new equipments. But the project was progressed in order of priority through consultation and discussion about the construction budget. Lastly, it is the performed case through continuous discussion with experts' advices on administrative supporting and the present enforcement law with appropriate harmony of children and residents. The meaning of the residents' participation planning is to deduct the design with which more residents are satisfied, to form community spirit and conversation between residents, and to make them get attachment and residents' consciousness.
