South Korea had adopted Japan’s health insurance system as a model. The Japanese model’s influence in shaping Korean health insurance was most notable in 3 areas: (1) the administrative structure of the system, (2) the choice about who would be covered, and (3) the policy for mobilizing financial resources for the system.
The Japanese public health insurance coverage in population was extended to include the whole population by 1961. In Korea, universal health insurance coverage for all of its citizens launched by 1989.
In 1983, Those aged 70 or over for health care services “Health Service System for the Elderly” introduced. In 1986, coverage was extended to intermediate nursing facilities for the elderly. In the April 2000, the Long-term Care Insurance System started. That extended insurance coverage for nursing homes and the supporting services for home care. In Koea, The Long-term Care Insurance System had started in August 2008. This subject is to investigate the levels of health management, according to health state of the Elderly on social welfare organizations.
