W. Brain Arthur insisted that there exist decreasing returns under the Bulk-Material-Manufacturing World, but increasing returns under the Knowledge-Based-World. His insistence through the article on the Harvard Business Review and his well mown book [Increasing Returns and Path Dependence in the Economy] gives a strong message to the academic and business world. His "Increasing Returns Strategy" revealed under the system of Bulk-Material-Manufacturing-World and Knowledge-Based-World also estimated as one of the outstanding findings.
This paper compared the traditional trade theory based on decreasing returns and increasing cost to the new theory based on increasing returns and decreasing cost under Digital Economic Era. We will investigate the remaining trade pattern problem under increasing returns to the next coming paper.
