The main purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the enterprise's internalization level and it's research and development (R&D) performance. To achieve this goal, researches have been done two steps: First, the literature surveys have been done on the enterprise's internalization theories and research and development performances. Second, the relationships between two factors have been analyzed.
This research concluded that the relationship between internationalization levels and R&D performance is a positive relationship and it is expected to be highly suggestive for establishing the effective R&D strategies and also for making overseas marketing plans of enterprises.
The results' implications can be summarized as follows: First, the enterprise internationalization can have a positive effects on R&D performance. So the cooperation between R&D division and overseas marketing division is very important for the better outcomes of R&D. Second, the environmental factors are partially effective on the relationship between two factors. As examples, the technology life cycle and previous R&D experiences can be good moderators. Third, in the internationalization process, the entrepreneur's management ability and attitude are key factors to make successive performances in R&D activities as well as enterprise's internationalization. So the infrastructure like "Virtual Internationalization Center" or "CEO's Internationalization Seminar course" is very necessary for SME's internationalization and R&D performance.
As the conclusion, this research results is significant for the cooperation between overseas marketing and R&D division, also a good guideline for establishing overseas marketing plans and R&D strategies.
