It is of no question that policy makers need to have a good command of the status and characteristics of a region in order to implement a successful policy there. So do the Kyonggi Province governers for effective policies for women in Kyonggi Province. This paper is to analysize the social and economic status of women in Kyonggi Province, and to compare their characteristics with those of women in other area.
Suggestions, based on the findings, include:
1) policy development for older women who are going to rapidly increase in the near future, 2) expansion of and quality control of child care system, 3) development of programs for familybonding and supporting one-parent families, 4) development of HRD policy for increasing the low rate of Kyonggi women’s economic activities, 5) establishment of welfare institutes for responding the increasing needs of women, 6) establishment of strong network between GO and NGO for activating Kyonggi women’s participation in society.
