The purpose of the current study is to examine trend of prose published in the Readers’ column of 『Hakwon』. The writings in the Readers’ column shows the inside, and recognition for reality and view on literature of students of the times.
Teenagers accepted view on literature through 『Hakwon』 and repeated production and enjoyment of texts. This repetitive learning effect greatly influenced reproduction of new view on literature of the Korean literature world after 1960s when those students became writers. In this study, works of main writers who were introduced through the Readers’ column such as Lee Cheong-jun, Jeon Sang-guk, Choi Myeong-hee, Kim Won-il, Choi In-cho, etc. were examined. Those writers reproduced view on literature important for the Korean literature history, and their writings published in the magazine possessed unique views on literature. In addition, by analyzing their works, it can be found that views on literature of selectors who were responsible for examination were presented.
Like this, acceptance and struggle for controversies over purity-participation that were important issues at that time such as ‘enlightenment and modernization’, ‘Korean things’, etc. were shown in teenagers’ writings.
Therefore, 『Hakwon』 is very meaningful in as sense that it not only discovered writers important in the Korean literature history, but also reproduced literature.
