The objective of this study is for evaluating the various regions' competitiveness of tourism industry, and suggesting the direction of tourism policy based on the result.
In this study, we analyzed the competitiveness of tourism industry using productivity and multiplier of tourism industry. This analysis achieved by using Multi Region Input Out Model (MRIO) which is based on Multi Regional Input-Output Table published in 2000 and 2003.
After carrying out the analysis, we found out that the regions including Jeju and Metropolitan area were low in productivity and high in multiplier effect. On the contrary, the regions including Chungbuk and Jeonbuk were high in productivity and low in multiplier effect.
Therefore, based on the result, we suggest the direction of tourism policy that the regions with low productivity and high multiplier effect should focus on demand-centered software developing policy. On the other hand, the regions with high productivity and low multiplier effect should focus on supply-centered hardware developing policy.
