The link between child maltreatment and juvenile delinquency are well established. However, the majority of maltreated children do not offend. So, it is necessary to examine whether other factors serves to mediate or moderate this relationship. And it is necessary to examine the impact that timing and chronicity of child maltreatment have on juvenile delinquency. This study examines the realities of chid abuse victimization and factors related child abuse victimization. And it examines the link between the timing and chronicity of maltreatment and juvenile delinquency. And it explores the possibility that several factors may reduce or increase risk of delinquency produced by maltreatment. And this study suggests the methods preventing juvenile delinquency. For this research, survey was conducted by distributing questionnaires in Seoul. Data were collected from 2,056 students. The results of this study support child maltreatment to have an important impact on juvenile delinquency. In particular, psychological/physical abuse have important effect on delinquency. These findings suggest that preventing maltreatment may actually help to reduce later costs to child welfare and juvenile justice system. Also, the results of this study indicate that several factors with child maltreatment have significant effect on delinquency. Other characteristics related to delinquency include self-control, attitudes favorable to offending, commitment to conventional lines of actions, involvement in conventional activities. Implications of these finding for eliminating delinquency were discussed. Attempts will be made to replicate the results of this study with data that allow for the examination of a variety of maltreatment measures, to include maltreatment outside the home(in the community, school, and other settings).
