Experimental study was performed in order to estimate the flexural bond strength of normal strength concrete with recycled coarse aggregate. The recycled coarse aggregate representing lower limit(water absorption : 3.0%, specific gravity : 2.5g/㎤) of the current quality standard were used. Eight concrete beams were manufactured with test parameters which are replacement ratio(0% and 100%) of recycled coarse aggregate and the locations (i.e., 225㎜ and 75㎜) of reinforcement. A cross-section of concrete beam was 150㎜×300㎜ for all specimens.
From the test results, it was found that flexural bond strength of normal strength concrete is not affected by the replacement ratio of recycled coarse aggregate. But the bond strength of top reinforcement os decreased significantly compared with that of bottom reinforcement. The bond strength of bottom reinforcement satisfied the bond strength requirement recommended by CEB-FIP. But, bond strength of top reinforcement showed a lower bond stress than that provided in CEB-FIP Code. In this specimen, the bond strength provided by bearing stress and wedging action of concrete was not observed. It was caused by the fact that bonded area at the bottom of reinforcement was significantly reduced by the poring water and laitance.
