Despite the fact that the ensuring of historical grounds and existing data that form the basic data for furniture research and design may be an important clue in proposing better design reality and alternatives, each corporation or company has nearly burnt up or thrown out less than 5-year-old basic catalogs and furniture development data that are supposed to exist from the foundation of the company as well as merely 30-40-year-old data. Therefore, this study looked into the temporal concepts, changes, and the background of the establishment of an apartment living room space through photos, magazines, catalogs, web data, and miscellaneous materials based on a literary foundation throughout transitions from the 1960s to the present focusing on living room display cabinet of Korean apartments. Also, the study analyzed the temporal situations, the characteristics of living rooms by each period, the items to store placed in a living room, the characteristics of living room storage furniture, and furniture manufacturing methods and trends by period.
