In the field of 'Human Vibration', many frequency weighting, until now, have been derived from particular experiments only using the Western people. However, because of the inherent differences (for example, characteristic and shape of body parts, muscular and cellular tissue) between the Western people and the Oriental people, frequency weighting based on Oriental people might be required.
In this study, the experiment is carried out to develop a frequency weighting using the Korea people in the vertical whole-body vibration, and to verify whether this is possible to accept in practical application in comparison with ISO 2631-1. 10 male subjects were tested in posture which is similar to seating in the passenger seat (footrest, upright and placing the palms on the thighs, etc.). This experiment was performed using sinusoidal excitation in the range from 2.0 to 250㎐ which is a combination of one-half and one-third octave bands at eight determined amplitudes. In order to guarantee the reliability of the test, non-parametric statistics was adopted for resolving the insufficiency of sample. And for making frequency weighting and equal sensation curve, two methods were considered. The first one is to change the amplitude at a fixed frequency, and the other is to invest weighting values. Korean showed the most sensitivity at 6.3㎐ excitation. So it is needed to give much higher weighting factors near that frequency.
