Zigbee is a short distance wireless communication protocol with low power and low speed. Typically in sensor network two kinds of protocol are employed first method is transferring packets in cycle, second is transferring packets randomly. In cycle transfer mode Zigbee transfers the gathered data in real time clock (RTC), while in random transfer mode the packets are transferred on the request of server or the client device meets certain pre-defined conditions. As most of the end devices are battery operated low power consumption is one of the prime requirements in Zigbee modules when the end modules are in active state. On the other hand the server is in continuous active state as it is unpredictable when the end device transfers the data. Recently in many applications battery operated sever modules are often required. Due to continuous operation in server module the power consumption increases, reducing the battery life. Also, due to higher power consumption power supply stability is affected which in turn degrades the performance of the entire system. In this paper we present a modification and implementation of low power consumption algorithm by synchronization of network to reduce the power consumption in the server thereby increasing the battery life and the stability of the power supply. The synchronization is done during the sync time slot during which the server can go to sleep mode hence reducing the total power consumption.
