To improve the steel wire truss deck system and investigate structural behavior such as strength and displacement, an experimental tests were performed. The main parameters of tests were the longitudinal direction shape and spacing of lattices. Thirteen steel wire truss deck specimens were tested. To consider that slab concrete at construction fields were loaded to deck plates, uniform construction loads at tests were given on deck plate directly. The test results indicated that the steel wire truss deck with the continuous lattice wires showed more efficient deformation capacity than that with discontinuous lattice wires. Discontinuous lattice wires could be result in increasing vierendeel behavior in the steel wire truss deck. This behavior decreased the deformation capacity of the steel wire truss deck system. Also, it was found that the truss deck system with lattices spaced longer than conventional products could be effectively used without increase of member stresses. Analysis of construction period and economic feasibility was performed on the developed wire-mesh truss deck system. Compared with conventional construction method, the developed system showed much improvement in reducing the construction time of steel-reinforced concrete (SRC) structures. However, the improvement was negligible when the deck system is applied to reinforced concrete (RC) structures. Economic feasibility also favored the use of the developed system to SRC structures than RC structures and buildings with higher story height.
