The number of outbound tourists of Korea has been gradually recovering to before the level of IMF control as Korea's economic situation takes a favorable turn. Up to now, those areas like Japan, North America, South-East Asia and West Europe are main destinations of Korean outbound tourists. Recently, it is expanding to such areas as East and North Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America.
Sweden is abundant in tourism resources in the aspects of attractive cultural heritage, beauty of Lapland, exotic tradition, the unrivalled opportunities for fishing, rafting, sailing and outdoor sports. In this regard Sweden can stand comparison with West Europe, Japan and America.
It is no doubt that Sweden should be included as an attractive new destination for potential Korean tourists to Sweden in the perspective of tourism promotion : ① holding of a Korea-Sweden forum, ② yearly organization of a 'Day of Sweden' event, ③ opening of an explanation meeting on study abroad and outbound tourism to Sweden, ④ establishment of a local office of the Swedish Tourism Authority in Korea, ⑤ foundation of a Swedish cultural center in Korea.
