This paper examined the meaning of historiography and it's limitations of “A study on the Silla Politico-Social History" written by Lee ki-baik. The author found out the fact that Silla political-system was changed from that of the Aristocratic coalition to the Authoritarian Royal Power, and from that of the Authoritarian Royal Power to the Aristocratic co-existence on the base of the research methods which Samguksagi's articles made use fundamental historical records and disclosed the nature of politics and society through the activities of man lived in that times. The author's argument that deduced through a positive analysis of the historical materials and was estimated to explain that Silla's political development phase divided into third period in a plain logical structure was accepted the dominant theory in the academic world of history. But it became to be disclose the limitation of the concept of the Aristocratic coalition and the Authoritarian Royal Power that he proposed and the argument on the Silla political system that he asserted in “A study on the Silla Politico-Social History" as studies on the history of Silla based on the records of Japan that included Shokunihongi and on the Monument Uljin Bongpyeong and Yeongil Naengsuri that were discovered newly in recent have been advanced. If the author's argument will be accepted dominant theory in the academic world of history in the future, it would be necessary to make up for the weak point of that to put these material to practical use positively.
