What was origin of the Cold War in Northeast Asia? No one knows when the Cold War started on the Korean Peninsula.
The Korean War was started not as a general war but as a civil war. The United States soon supported South Korea with Air and Navy Forces. From the early phases of the Korean War, it occurred debate whether crossing the 38th parallel was necessary.
The Eurocentric group-Kennan and Nitze-asserted that the Korean War was a limited war. Therefore they didn't want to cross the 38th parallel. But the Asia-firsters-Allison, Dulles and MacArthur-advocated that the Korean war was initiated by communists-especially the Soviet Union and satellite countries-, so the aim of the United Nations Command intended to destroy the North Korean Regime and to establish a united, free, and independent Korea under the leadership of the Republic of Korea.
The Inchon landing achieved brilliant success and the war situation was changed. The debate of the objective of the Korean War inclined to the Asia-firsters.
China warned that she would enter into the Korean War if the United Nations Command crossed the 38th parallel. But MacArthur estimated that China's warning was only a threat.
In the end, the People's Liberation Army of China took part in the Korean War and clashed with the United States Army. From that time, the Korean War transformed from a civil war to an international war. Then, the effect of the Cold War in the Korean Peninsula began to strengthen.
