The architectural design method concerning a structure system was examined in this study. Basically, the composition characters of structure systems related to the form and space of architecture was studied. Then, It was presented that the integration method of a structure with the space enclosing elements and the variation method in a structure system itself have to be considered when the design using structures is intended.
The detailed composition methods were investigated on the two design methods using cases in Korea. The design characters and states were presented dividing into three types of cases, which are cases that the structure and space enclosing elements are same thing, cases that the two elements are combined separately, and cases having additional structures. It was also found that truss system, flexure+compression system and flexure+tension system are mainly used, and each structure systems are designed with purpose of structural meaning or expressional meaning in the cases.
