The occurrence of the avian bird flu can be very harmful not only poultry industry but also human life and health. To solve these problems, Jeju native chicken, which has not been taken avian influenza disease until right now in Korea, was used. This study verified the possibilities of antiviral activity against avian influenza using method of DNA polymorphism of the Mx gene known as the anti virus gene and the part of specific gene. Also, some specific sites were used for expression vector construction and those vectors were transfected into chicken embryonic fibroblast cells for the confirmation of antiviral activity. As a result, common specific variations were found in 21 spots in Jeju native chicken. The part of UTR region was expressed intensively into embryonic fibroblast cells of each experimental strain. Antiviral activity was expressed highly as 29% in Jeju native chicken strain than any other commercial strain. Mx gene which was selected by Jeju native chicken was also expressed in spermatogonia stem cells that would be used for the next generation. We expect that this study will be used as an important material when we select anti virus chicken and study gene manipulation.
