The Lohas movement is a hot issue in economics and business management. Even multinational corporations are beginning to notice this unprecedented trend and prepare themselves to suit that new tendency. What does the Bible say about that? What could be the biblical judgment of the emergence of the group of the new consumers that love and are willing to live the Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability, i.e., the Lohas?
I attempted to view this new phenomenon from a biblical perspective on wealth, specifically, Revelation ch. 18 and ch. 21, 21: the wealth of Babylon and that of New Jerusalem. The author of Revelation seems to view the wealth of Babylon very negatively. However, considering his viewpoint on the riches of New Jerusalem, he does not appear to oppose wealth itself. Then, what is the standard by which to distinguish good wealth from bad? Could there be any connection between the Lohas Movement and John’s perspective of good wealth?
