The survey of the mode of the existence of the Self in the Paek Seok's poetry is important that it is the achieve of the inside of modern self. Paek Seok's poetry can divide two parts. The one is the poetry that the speaker is a child, the other is the poetry that the speaker is a adult. In the former, the poet put the Self of adult in the back of the childish speaker. So it is true that the image of the hometown nondamaged by the empire of Japan in his poetry is the accumulation of images in the inside of the Self. In the poetry with the adult speaker, the poet is always related the images of things met in the trips to the images of hometown. It is the Self's intention to establish the inside of modern self too.
