'Kyolinsuji' was a textbook for japanese who wanted to study the Korean language in the 18th century. It differs from 'Nogeolae-eonhae' and 'Cheophaesineo' in that it is a dictionary that focuses on the conversational sentences while 'Nogeolae-eonhae' and 'Cheophaesineo' were made to help interpreters in Korea learn the Chinese characters and the japanese language respectively. It has Chinese headings under which the Korean and japanese counterparts are written side by side, which helps us study the 18th century Korean and japanese. It has a very important bibliographical data because it has three revised versions and different editions so that it may show the processes of change in the Korean language.
'Kyolinsuji' has many vocabularies and sentence ending markers that were presumably of the Kyeongsang dialect at that time, since the author Hosyu(l668-1755), a Tsusima diplomat, learned the Korean language during his stay in Busan. Although I know that it's dangerous that we try to infer the language at that time in terms of the Modem Korean.
'Kyolinsuji' consists of four volumes. There are printed and hand-written editions. This study is mainly based on the version that Kyoto University has and the 2nd version of the printed edition(l883) and the revised version of the printed edition(1904).
This study describes what may be considered the expressions of spoken language that doesn't sound the Korean language in the 1st Volume of 'Kyolinsuji'.
