This essay is to consider about American recognition of Oda Makoto.
Oda Makoto is the thinker who is famous for a Vietnamese anti-war movement. And he was the intellectual who discuss about various problems of post-war Japan by a civic viewpoint.
I thought about American recognition of Oda through “Nandemo Mideteyaru”. I clarified two things. The one is that Oda denies the Japan-America relationship of the then binary opposition. The other is that Oda recognized American social problems which he called “the principle of uniformity”. Oda made an effort to consider apart from a nation.
And Oda understood that “privateness” took the damage one-sidedly when “privateness” was opposed to “public”. Thus he was going to save “privateness” from the “public”. Oda did not discover a Japanese blueprint from America. And he did not discover America. as the enemy. He just discovered “privateness”.
When he did a Vietnamese anti-war movement, his thought to attach great importance to “privateness” than the “public" became clearer.
