Supervised trials are carried out to obtain information on the behaviour of pesticide residues on/in the treated objects. The uncertainty of sampling may contribute to the 80-90% of the combined uncertainty of the results. Therefore reliable residue data can only be obtained with appropriate sampling procedures. The results of filed trials, carried out with two sampling methods indicate that sequential sampling from the close vicinity of pre-selected and marked sampling positions may require about half size of composite samples to obtain similar precision of the results as that obtained with picking the fruits according to the momentary decision of the sampling officer.
