The purposes of this study are to evaluate future value of community facilities which is based on the objective selectional algoritlun and to categorize viable types of future-oriented community facilities. In order to select future-oriented community facilities, the present and future value of the 42 facilities were analysed. As a result, the 37 facilities which had the positive future value scores were fmally selected as future-oriented community facilities. This study also evaluated those 37 future-oriented community facilities in tenus of importance and degree of future orientation. As a result, five facility types are identified as follows; ① both present and future value are high ② future orientation is very high ③ future orientation is average ④ future orientation is somewhat low, and ⑤ future orientation is very low. The significance of this study is that it has set a viable methodology to analyse community facilities objectively, and also established the types of future oriented facilities by through present and future values of facilities. It is desired that this study contributes creating pleasant urban environments which will be considered a model of the 21st century.
