University newspapers should have a good balance of journalism and academism. This article starts with an intention to discover the messages of 1980's in poetry on The Kyungpook National University Times celebrating publishing anniversaries of it. The messages were demands of the time and history, the member's heart's desires, and products of youth's pain and passion. These were missions and roles that 1980's gave to The Kyungpook National University Times.
"The map of young spirit" is the most appropriate expression of university students. University newspapers of 1980's were the main body that put in the university spirits and drew the map of them. "Awakening radar" speaks for traditional spirits of classical scholars (Seon-bi) that clear up corruption, absurdity, and inequality, keep the justice, and do not yield to temptation.
"The flag of pride" brightened the darkness of paths, opened a dawn of the square, and lighted a torch of lecture theatre. These are acts that create new words and new paradigm to light darkness. "The nest of flying" is a footboard of a jump to the sky and a ground to hatch dreams. These become a nest that makes a new system. A system creates culture and the culture become a nest in which men blooms.
