Length of south to north direction of Jinhae bay is about 25 km, and width of east to west direction is about 25 km. Since 1960s, the coastland has been occupied by industrial districts, agriculture and industry complexes; hence, the population has been rapidly increased. Domestic waster water and industrial wastes have been emitted to Masan bay and Jinhae bay without enough environmental processing. Naturally, red tide has often happened since the 1970. Due to large scale red tide occurrence, it is reported that the events of marine habitats killed occurred at 1978, 1981, and 1995, respectively. Worst thing is that red tide happens regardless of season. Especially in summer, it is observed that, due to the lack of dissolved oxygen, marine products can hardly survive and it even threatens human being's health. Therefore, to investigate water quality distribution feature in Jinhae bay, total fifteen points where the construction Pusan Newport is being processed were selected from 1997 to 2005 in this study. For the purpose, cluster analysis has been done by investigating water qualities, and Jinhae bay is divided into similar territories based on the analysis. Then, by observing the annual, territorial variation of water qualities, the severe polluted areas are studied, the effects of the construction of Pusan Newport and special water quality regulation of Masan bay on the water qualities are investigated.
