In Gohyun Bay, spring tide range was recorded I85.3cm, which is smaller than neighboring waters such as Tongyeong and Danhang, where spring tide ranges were recorded to be 222.1㎝ and 273.4㎝ respectively. Also, mean sea levels were relatively low. The flood flow is heading to southeast and ebb flow to northwest with a regular period. Sometimes the velocity and direction of tidal currents abruptly changed because of a wind action. During neap tide, tidal current ellipses appeared differently between semi-diurnal tide and diurnal tide in their directions of long axis. According to harmonic analysis of tidal currents, a major direction of semi -diurnal tides coincided at the surface and bottom layers, which is from northwest to southeast. However, at the surface layer, a residual current is flowing to north while it is flowing to northwest at the bottom layer. On the other hand, in spring tide, semi-diurnal tides and diurnal tides looked similar in their direction of long axis that indicated northwest southeastward but the circles turned right. Residual currents were almost the same direction since they flowed northward. Waves had a variety of distributions which a significant wave height was recorded from its minimum value of 7㎝ to the maximum of 33㎝. Usually in this area regular wave heights were recorded within 10㎝ so that this region is tranquil.
