The purpose of this study was to provide guidelines for directing the growth of children and to make clear aging of children's sale by analyzing the characteristics of sole. In the study. subjects were 126 boys and girls ages 4 to 6. For each subject, the item's characteristics of feet were examined.
All subject were included ±1 ㎝ standard deviation of the standing height means for Korean children by each age. The characteristics of sale dimensions and foot arch were analyzed by means, standard deviations.
The results of the study were as the following,
1. Sale dimensions and foot arch area were increased by age. But middle area that was related to foot arch area was decreased during ages 4~6 years old, and the other items were increased. Therefore velocity of foot arch area dimension less than that of height. But on the girls, foot arch area dimension were decrease aging. Same condition left foot but opposite condition right foot compared boys.
These were showed that growth velocity of sale were not reach that of height.
2. On the flat foot analyze, normal foot children showed better than flat foot each item of motor ability, except for sit bent.
Since the shape of feet seems to be related with motor ability, proper attention should be directed to the normal growth of feet in children.
